Barring a natural disaster or a man-made extinction event, evidence suggest that in the future we will be able to create a virtual reality that is seemingly as real as the one we currently live in. This has enormous consequences one of which will be explored now.
If this happens there is the possibility to create a simulation of a new life in the same time period that we currently live in. In this simulation, as in reality, technology advances at an exponential rate leading to the discovery of virtual reality. From within the simulation you would be able to go into the next virtual reality “inception style” and keep going into infinity.
This is a real possibility, and according to some the creation of virtual reality can be seen as somewhat inevitable considering the current advancement of technological discovery.
If this idea is not weird enough already, this is where it gets really weird. What if we are already in the simulation? What if this reality is not the real deal? If you think about it because it stretches into infinity there are an infinite number of “fake” worlds that can spring out from just one “real” world. So what are the chances that we are currently living in the real one? The maths to work this out is 1/infinity which I believe is very close to zero possibility.
If this didn’t convince you enough that this is a possibility please check out some scientists talking about a similar topic.
